I have never made New Year’s resolutions before. The more I think about that statement the sillier it seems. I’m a goal setter. I like to set my goals high so even if I miss them I’ve landed higher than most. I’ve practiced my “goal setting” in 2018 through races and soul searching. Yet, New Year resolutions are a goal setting practice that I’ve never participated in. I’m determined that 2019 will be different. I will set New Year’s Resolutions and I want to encourage my fellow millennials to do the same. Let’s make 2019 the year of Millennials taking hold of the reins to direct their lives to the fullest!
My 2019 New Year’s Resolutions
- Qualify for the Houston and Boston Marathon : This is one of those high set goals that I will probably fall short of. But at least having them will keep me motivated to run.
- Be Happy : Far too often millennials get caught up in what society thinks they should do based on past generations. This has caused a lot of unhappiness in our group and it simply will not do. Life is too short to be unhappy. Instead of letting the man get me down, I’m making it a goal to always put my happiness first, even if society thinks that’s wrong.
- Complete my One Line a Day Journal : I’ve already fallen off the wagon again since I posted about it so I need to jump back on.
- Read a Daily Devotion : I now have a couple daily devotion books and I’ve never taken the time to do them. I think if I try and do at least one a week that it will contribute to my “be happy” resolution exponentially!
- Go to the Gym Once A Week : My running game is pretty strong (if I do say so myself). I run 4 to 5 days a week but I lack any time in the gym. I want to build up more than just my running strength though and that why I’d like to attend the gym at least once a week on top of my runs.
- Spend more Time Making Art : I’ve spent a lot of 2018 looking at other peoples art and thinking of new ideas for my own. I have lacked creating any new art though. This year I’m making it a resolution to create at least one new piece of art a month. Maybe I’ll even enter some local art shows too.
So Cheers to a New Year! I’d love to hear what resolutions you may have made for yourself. Maybe you’re looking to get to explore the area you live better. Or maybe you’re looking to get outside your comfort zone a little. Whatever it is, let me know in the comments. If you haven’t made any, join me in making this the year to make one and stick with it! Happy New Year!
