If you’ve been following along with you’ll know I’ve been to a handful of weddings the past few years. If I’m keeping track correctly (I’m probably not) I’ve gone to 8 weddings since the end of 2018. I guess when you say it, that doesn’t sound like that many, but trust me, it’s taken a toll. Don’t get me wrong, I’m totally happy for all of them! But weddings are so draining. The weddings in 2019 especially drained me. Every month that spring had a wedding I attended. Even though they are draining (especially when traveling) they’ve all served as little inspirations for this moment! Planning my own wedding. (God I’m so stressed already. Help a type A girl out). To remind myself that everything works out, I’m taking a trip down memory lane of the weddings I’ve attended.

Out of State Weddings I’ve Attended
Because I lived in Virginia for over 10 years, I’ve made a lot of friends who live up there. Therefore I’ve also attended many weddings in Virginia. Funny enough, it’s been an even split down the middle. 4 weddings in Virginia, and 4 weddings in Florida. (And one in the mid-west). I honestly find it very amusing and love going back up to Virginia to visit and see old friends.
A Blue Ridge Mountain Wedding
This wedding was for one of my sorority sisters that I just absolutely adore! Her wedding was so unique and so her. Her and her hubby have a long back story and I really chocked up during the ceremony. It took place in the mountains near our university. The location was perfect. Though the October air was a bit crisp, it was a great month to have a wedding in Virginia.
Inspiration? How their wedding fit them perfectly. Every detail was just so them and I love that.
Springtime Country Club
Two of the 2019 weddings that I attended were just completely timeless. I’m slightly biased towards one because it’s one of the best gals in the world who got married. She taught me how to not be so uptight and really enjoy life. Honestly, it’s something I’m still working on but she helped me so much. I was so glad I got to be a part of her amazing day. It had been so long since I’d seen her and it was easily one of the best weekends of my year. I love you Michelle! And I can’t wait to meet your second mini me.
Inspiration? The cake! By far my favorite wedding cake and I will be trying those flavors in tastings.
Timeless Church
A family friend who we’ve been friends with since we originally moved to Virginia got married in the summer of 2019. It of course took place in the church where our family friendship all started. It’s always nostalgic for me to go back to an old church, and this was no different. We got to see so many people and celebrate a beautiful couple. It’s always fun to attend a wedding as a family, especially when you’re family of 7 (plus Michael, so 8).
Inspiration? The cocktail bar area at the reception space. It made me feel all glamorous and fancy.
College Reunion
It’s always a good time when you’re reunited with your college family. This was my first “covid wedding” of 2020. Michael and I flew up to a small town in Virginia for the weekend and met up with about half of my college family. Even though we didn’t get quite as rowdy as we did in college, it was still the perfect night catching up and enjoying each others company. I can’t wait to see them all again.
Inspiration? Catholic churches just have some kind of timeless magic. While I’m not Catholic or getting married in a church, I want something just as timeless.
Sturgeon Bay
This was the most recent wedding I attended. Michaels cousin got married right on Sturgeon Bay in Wisconsin. It was a blast and we danced the night away. Literally until the cops shut us down. The whole trip was a great opportunity to meet more of Michaels family and I loved that.
Inspiration? I don’t want the cops to shut us down, but I sure do hope to dance the night away!
Florida Weddings I’ve Attended
From North to South! Funny enough, only one of the weddings I’ve attended have been out of these two states.
The Game of Life
This wedding was the first wedding of 2019 we went to and it was so incredibly unique! From the bouquets, to the theme, and all the little details, it is a wedding I’ll never forget. There was a game at every table to enjoy during the reception and details around every corner. In fact, it was so unique it was even shared on Popsugar! The photographs do an amazing job at capturing all the details from the day.
Inspiration? Their unique details. (Especially the 3D printed lego flowers!)
Lake Nona Country Club
The other wedding I attended later in spring 2019 was at the Lake Nona Country club and I’ll be honest…it was a ton of fun, but I don’t remember too much of it. (Ooops!) It was a great celebration though and I loved how effortlessly elegant it was because of the venue. Something Michael still talks about (and I think will have to be in our wedding) was the mash potato bar during cocktail hour. Nothing like some carbs to soak up those drinks to get you through the rest of the evening.
Inspiration? No doubt, the mashed potato bar. That Michael insist we will have!
A Family Affair
The second covid wedding we attended was for my gorgeous cousin. It has been quite the journey for her and her husband and it was special to be able to celebrate all together. Not everyone in my family felt comfortable attending the wedding in the midst of covid. Therefore we were a slightly smaller group than the previous wedding we went to as a family. However, it worked out perfectly because we got to sit my Aunt and Uncle close to the Bride and Groom. Hands down, this wedding had the best food. From cocktail hour to the actual meal, I was stuffed!
Inspiration? The food. Need I say more?
The Perfect Weather
As outdoor weddings go, it didn’t get more perfect than this Ft. Lauderdale, close to the beach, wedding. Though it was quite an ordeal to find where the wedding actually was. It was a much smaller outdoor wedding that had a nice breeze and overall great weather. Truly, I was shocked by how nice it was outside for April in South Florida. If I could guarantee that weather at my own wedding that would be ah-maze-ing. Overall though the weekend we spent in South Florida was so fun and we even got to enjoy some time in Palm Beach.
Inspiration? If the weather could be that perfect on my wedding day it would be perfect!
So that’s all the wedding’s I’ve been to the past few years. With another coming up this January. So if we could just keep it an even 10 until after my wedding, I’d appreciate it.
