Knit dresses have become a big thing the past few fall and winter seasons. The knit material makes the dress warmer than if it were made of cotton or silk, so it’s fitting for the colder seasons. However, warmer is not always better in Florida. While this fall season has been particularly cold, it’s better to be safe than sorry. A full knit dress with long sleeves wouldn’t bode very well in the afternoons here. But, adding a cropped shrug ensures an extra layer in the morning that you can shed later in the day.

I first saw this style knit dress on Abercrombie. Abercrombie has shed its ways since I was in middle school and truly blossomed. They’ve embraced all body types and elevated their style to keep up with current trends. The only thing I don’t love is they can still be a little pricey when not on sale. Since they are so trendy, I question whether or not to buy from them. Only because when I’ve purchased trendy items in the past I wear them once and then donate them.
Because I wasn’t sure I’d love the style, I ventured to Shein to see if I could find something similar. I ended up buying a knit dress and shrug separately from them since there wasn’t a set available at the time. Still, it saved me almost $100 and now they have sets just like this. I haven’t shopped from Shein in a few years now and wasn’t particularly happen to be doing it again. But it was a good way to try out the style before committing to spend more. Overall, I love the way it looks, and I like the versatility that the items I bought offer.
Maybe if the Abercrombie dress goes on sale during Black Friday or the holiday season I’ll consider investing in the reason I tried these pieces. Or maybe I’ll just stay satisfied with this outfit. Because it really did turn out bomb.
